The Unity Suite Listening Party
Join us for an album listening session for drummer/composer Dr. Mark Lomax II’s latest recording, The Unity Suite. The Unity Suite premiered to a sold out crowd at the Wexner Center for Performing Arts in October. The official studio recording will be released in January 2026.
If you are a fan of jazz, the blues and the music of the Black Church, you do not want to miss this event. Get a sneak peek of the project and hear background information on what inspired this amazing composition.
Come early and also view artwork from 15 year old Cincinnati local artist Madison Scruggs whose work is currently on display at the US Capitol after winning a congressional art competition for Ohio’s 1st District. Madison’s exhibit Silent Screams closes soon, so you don’t want miss your chance to see it.

Summermusik FEaturing Mark Lomax II
Join Summermusik (Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra) as they present their American Roots program which will feature music from the Underground Railroad and Black composers from the 20th and 21st century. The program will feature soprano Victoria Ellington, historian Anne Hagedorn and the Summermusik String Quartet.
Come out and hear Dr. Mark Lomax II’s piece A Prayer for Love as part of this engaging program. Tickets can be purchased on the Underground Railroad Freedom Center’s website.
